I am Jeremy Bird, and I originally set up En Chêne - literally 'in oak' - at the beginning of 2018 with Mike Dennis. It was a registered SARL company, based in the Dordogne, south west France. Unfortunately for En Chêne, Mike decided to go back to the UK for a year in 2020 to continue his studies, so I decided to keep the company going, and diversify what we could offer.  I finally deregistered the company in 2021 and set up as a self employed Project Manager and carpenter.

Before moving to France in 2007, I was a lieutenant colonel in the Royal Engineers. I almost relocated to Devon as an apprentice to furniture-maker David Savage, so it was inevitable that I was drawn to working with wood here in France.

Over the years I have expanded my expertise to be able to provide a complete service of new builds, renovations or extensions.
